New assignment at Studio Divine: The New Toya

We’re moving abroad! Not for long, and not very far either: to Switzerland, for a new assignment at Studio Divine, on The New Toya.

The assignment

Originally, I was coming in to reinforce a team already in place. I’d be working with former Ubi colleagues who freelance alongside their main jobs. Unfortunately, there wasn’t really any project management. The clients were the internal comms team at Toyota Switzerland, who had contacts at Studio Divine and wanted an explainer video for their hybrid engine. But Studio Divine is a watch design office, nothing to do with 3D animation. So project management was left to my colleagues already on the job, and it was chaos.

Naturally, and also because my colleagues didn’t enjoy project management, I ended up wearing that hat. To my great delight! I’m always hungry for new skills, and project management was one I hadn’t tried yet.

So I combined my skills as a pure 3D animation technician with my innate sense of organisation to see the project through. I even brushed up against rendering in 3ds Max!

The tricky part was that not everyone was on site. I was in Switzerland, in Biel, where the Studio Divine offices are, while my colleagues were in Lyon or Annecy. Not easy, but challenge accepted and met!

A very good experience all in all! I’m giving myself some holidays now, a proper break before getting back to work in September.
