A motion design video for Otodeck

For my first contract as a freelancer, I got to work with a startup. Looking back at the Otodeck motion design video.

I mentioned it recently in another post: for my first contract as a freelancer, I got to work with a startup. Let’s look back at the Otodeck motion design video.

A lucky break, because they gave me free rein! And it turned into the video above.

New skills!

To get my freelance animation business off the ground faster, I had to extend my skills to motion design. This video is entirely 2D, made in After Effects. In the near future I’m thinking of training on Cinema 4D to create motion design videos in 3D, and get back to my 3D animation roots. On the Otodeck project I strengthened my Illustrator skills, which I now handle with confidence, and I kept discovering new techniques in After Effects and Premiere for the edit.

It reminded me of my experience on The New Toya: I realised I’d already done this kind of project management and this kind of work. Same for my previous experience as a team lead at Ubisoft. In a way, I was already working like a freelancer back then. This experience really confirmed my choice to go independent!

See you soon for more news!
